Sol Anitua, G’08, WG’08, is Head of Strategy for Santander UK, looking after the long term corporate strategy of the bank. Previously, Sol spent five years at Vitol, an energy and commodities company, leading the origination and business development efforts in Southern Europe, while also working in structured deals across all geographies.

She joined the world’s largest energy trader from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where she headed the European Corporate Energy Sales team. From 2014 to 2017, Sol was also a Non-Executive Board Member at Natgas AG, a Potsdam-based gas and power company.

Sol started her career in McKinsey & Co., focusing mostly in banking and finance. She then left and launched the first microfinance investment fund in Spain, working for Fundación Codespa and partnering with BBVA.

Sol is a joint-degree graduate from the University of Pennsylvania’s Lauder Institute (MBA from the Wharton School and MA in International Relations), where she focused her studies on Brazil She also holds an undergraduate and master’s degree in business administration and a JD from ICADE, Spain. Sol was awarded with a full scholarship from Fundación Rafael del Pino. She is fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French.
