Rahul Dhir, WG’94, PAR’21, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Delonex Energy. He was previously Executive-In-Residence at Warburg Pincus LLC, a leading private equity firm focused on growth investing.

With nearly 30 years of experience in natural resources across technology, finance, and business leadership, Rahul served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Cairn India from 2006 to 2012. Under his leadership, the company grew to a market value of nearly USD 13 billion, with operated production of over 200,000 barrels of oil per day and a world-class resource base, with interests in nine blocks in India and one in Sri Lanka.

He started his career as an oil and gas reservoir engineer before moving into investment banking and worked at SBC Warburg, Morgan Stanley, and Merrill Lynch, where he served as Managing Director and Co-Head of Energy and Power, advising several major oil companies and a number of independent E&P companies on merger and acquisition and capital market related issues.

Rahul is a distinguished member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He holds a B. Tech in chemical engineering from IIT Delhi, an MS in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
